Open day this Saturday…

To mark the official opening of Roffey Cricket Club’s renovated changing facilities we shall be holding an open day this Saturday. We hope to see many new and old faces up the club enjoying the BBQ and various stalls such as treasure hunt, face painting and cakes that Mary Berry would be proud of! The club (and bar) will be open from 1pm and the official opening by Rt Hon Francis Maude will commence at 15.00.

Weather & ground conditions permitting our colts shall be putting on a training display as well as the odd game of Kwik Cricket. This represents a great opportunity to come down and find out more about Roffey Cricket Club and what we have to offer.

It doesn’t all stop come the evening as the fun and celebrations shall continue into the evening with a Disco.

See you there?

January blues? Not at RCC we’re too busy…

Behind the scenes its been a busy few months at Roffey Cricket Club. December saw the start of our clubhouse renovations to the changing rooms. This season both home and away teams will be able to enjoy segregated shower and toilet facilities and for the first time this makes providing women’s cricket a feasible proposition at the club. Works are due for completion in the next few weeks and we’re extremely grateful to all club members for their understanding during this disruptive period. Our annual open day (6th April) shall mark the formal opening of the club house where the Rt Hon. Francis Maude will be in attendance to cut the ribbon on our new facilities.

Elsewhere, the club received confirmation in January that our Clubmark accreditation had been renewed. This is great news for the club as it ensures we are working to nationally recognised guidelines thus ensuring a safe environment for all our members (new & old) to enjoy cricket and the facilities. Further benefits can be found here.

In cricketing matters the annual players’ meeting was held on 19th January and we welcome and thank the following people for standing as captains this year:

1st XI: Josh Fleming
2nd XI: Simon Shivnarain
3rd XI: Mick Webb
4th XI: Tanveer Bhatti

We also welcome Rohit Jagota to RCC this season in what has to be one of our most exciting signings for some years. Rohit will be familiar to many from his time at Pulborough CC where he consistently scored runs and took wickets. If you’re still not sure who his is, check out his stats here! We welcome and wish Rohit all the very best for the season.

And finally, just a quick note to say senior nets continue at Handcross Park School on Tuesday nights from 20.00 until 21.30. Each session is £5.

Dates for the diary:
Willostix kit sale: 24th Feb at 11am
AGM: 16th March at 19.30
Club Open Day: 6th April – more details to follow.
