We, as a club, are extremely proud of our youth section and the opportunities it provides to girls and boys in the local area. Over the years, the youth section has produced some incredibly talented cricketers who have progressed throughout the adult teams. Most importantly, it gives youngsters the chance to enjoy playing cricket with their friends and to become part of a wider family community.
Roffey CC is the perfect place for parents to bring children, of all ages and ability levels, to play cricket and socialise with friends in a fun, safe and inclusive environment.
Junior training is held at weekends during the winter months, and throughout the summer predominantly on Friday evenings (18:00 to 19:30). In the summer months, age group specific training sessions take place on weekday evenings. Our training programme is for boys and girls between 9 and 16 years old, alongside ‘Introduction to Cricket’ sessions suitable for 5 to 8 year olds.
Junior Training Sessions
- Run by qualified coaches, together with a number of our Premier League winning players, who pass on their knowledge and skills to nurture future Roffey cricketers.
- Parents have the chance to socialise and enjoy a drink at the newly refurbished clubhouse whilst watching their youngsters enjoy themselves.
- Regular Friday night events include BBQs, prize giveaways and entertainment for the children.
Don’t just take our word for it, here are some quotes from people who have been involved with junior cricket at Roffey
‘Friday nights at the cricket club were when I first discovered my enjoyment for cricket and it is great to see the tradition continue to this day.’
(George Fleming – Roffey 1st XI)
‘It was great to be involved with the junior coaching at Roffey. The coaches are passionate about providing a fun environment for kids of all ages to enjoy the game.’
(Ben Manenti – Sydney Sixers / Roffey 1st XI)
‘I first learnt to play the game with Mark Daly coaching me on a Friday night and from there began playing competitive cricket. My enjoyment for the game has been with me ever since and that’s the reason I am still playing now.’
(Tom Barnes – Roffey 2nd XI)
‘Roffey is the epitome of a family friendly club. As a colt I was welcomed into the adult teams from a young age – if you are good enough, you are old enough, that certainly helped my development as a player.’
(Paul Harrison – Northamptonshire / Leicestershire / Roffey)
